Yokwi holds the microphone for you.

Yokwi is an iPhone app that connects your voice to an AI agent you run, on your Mac, your PC, or a server you rent. This page says exactly what moves where. It is written from the app's own code, and it will be kept that way.

The short version

  • There is no account, no email, no password. You claim a name; that's the sign-up.
  • Your speech is turned into text on your phone by Apple's on-device speech recognition.
  • Each finished thing you say (the transcript, and the audio of that turn) is sent through our server to your own agent. Nowhere else.
  • Our server forwards messages. It doesn't read them, analyse them, sell them, or use them to build anything.
  • The app contains no analytics kit, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracking library. It uses Apple's frameworks only.

What Yokwi holds, and why

ItemWhy it existsWhere it lives
Your chosen usernameIt tells our server which phone and which agent belong together, so it can route messages between your phone and your agent. On our server; on your phone.
An app token for your usernameProves your phone is allowed to use your username.Kept securely on your phone; a matching record on our server.
Pairing codeA one-time code your agent presents to attach to your username. On our server until pairing completes.
Connection stateWhether your phone and your agent are connected right now, so the app can tell you.On our server, in memory.
Your Yokwi's look and personalityThe traits you rolled are shared with your agent when it connects, so it can play the part.On your phone; sent to your agent.

That is the list. Yokwi does not ask for your name, your email, your contacts, your location, or your photos, and it does not build a profile of you.

Your voice, step by step

  1. You speak. The microphone is used only while the app is listening, and only after you granted permission in iOS.
  2. Your phone transcribes. Apple's on-device Speech framework turns audio into text on the handset. Yokwi does not send your audio to a transcription service.
  3. The finished turn goes to your agent. When you stop talking, the app sends the transcript, and the audio of that turn so your agent can transcribe it itself if it prefers, through our server to your agent. Our server passes it on. If your agent is briefly offline, the message waits until it reconnects, and is used for nothing else.
  4. Your agent answers. It generates a reply and the audio for it on your machine, and sends it back the same way. Your phone plays it.

Watch it happen

Yokwi carries your words to your machine and brings the answer back. Two microphones, one for you, one for your agent. Press a phrase.

$ agent

Your machineYour agent, your model, your API key, your voice. Hermes, OpenClaw, or your own, any agent you already run.

Example replies. Your agent gives its own.

Yokwi does not store the audio or transcripts of your conversations. Your agent may; that is between you and the software you chose to run.

Your agent is yours

Yokwi is a voice and a face for an agent you already operate. Which model it calls, which API key it uses, what it remembers, and what it is allowed to do are all decided on your machine. If your agent uses a hosted model, that provider's privacy policy applies to what your agent sends it. If it runs a local model, nothing leaves your machine at all.

Third parties

  • Apple. Speech recognition runs on-device through Apple's framework. App distribution and any optional in-app purchases go through the App Store under Apple's terms.
  • Telegram. Only if you choose the "Send to your agent on Telegram" shortcut: the pairing message you send goes through Telegram like any other message, and Telegram's policy applies to it.
  • Nobody else. There are no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services in the app.

Children

Yokwi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

  • Turn off Microphone or Speech Recognition for Yokwi in iOS Settings at any time. The app will explain that it can't hear you and stop.
  • Delete the app to remove everything it holds on your phone, including the token it keeps.
  • To release your username so someone else can claim it, or to ask about anything on this page, find us in the Yokwi Discord.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here. Yokwi will not quietly start collecting something this page says it doesn't.
